Who's the first person you remember? - Rewrite

I’m not one of the lucky ones that has all there memories sitting in order somewhere just waiting to be looked at, mine are scattered everywhere. But the person I remember best is my brother Travis he was a few months older then me. He has always been my best friend; I would do anything he asked without question. When we were teenagers we spend almost all of our free time together, we drove all over the state and I don’t think our parent ever knew. On the way home from anywhere we shouldn’t have been we would talk about what we were going to tell our parents, I always was the one to tell them what we did because they always trusted me. It didn’t take Travis very long to know this would always work in his behalf. As the years passed I could easily create a cover story that no one would argue with. Some would say that this isn’t something healthy to teach a younger sister, but its part of who I am and I’m proud to have been handed that torch.  Travis and I look a lot alike we both have rounds faces, bright eyes and very infectious laughs. From kids to teenagers to adults we have always had this unbreakable bound; I’m one of the lucky ones because he is my brother.

"We are gathered here today to remember....."

He walks in with a mason jar full of ashes, I take it from him and hold it close. I close my eyes a little tear follows down my cheek I think how’s this possible. He was here one day and gone the next, I miss him so much. I didn’t bother to put shoes on, I walk out to the old barn and dig a very shallow grave. I get down on my knees and say a prayer for my wonderful friend. I place my note and the jar in the grave; I cover it up and sit there just listening to the wind in the trees.

Week 8. Vignettes

I look to my left a sign “Beware: Pickpockets and Loose Women” by the sounds of that this could be a promising birthday party. I sneak over to the cooler and pour the beer into cup. Then just sit in the back to watch this whole party unfold. I see her pull out the projector and a white board, no this is bad. How could I have been suckered into this? The lights dim and the show begin. I should have grabbed two beers from the cooler; I think the second one is going to be a little trickier.
Then I see pictures of the Eiffel Tower, Buckingham Palace and Royal Guard.  Slide after slide I wish I could have went; it’s a trip of a life time. I can’t believe that Zack lost his wallet on the train in Switzerland, but he didn’t lose his passport that’s kids luck. While it was still on the dark side I casually walked over and got another beer. The lights flicked back on, I quickly put my beer on the floor under my chair. The slide show was over but no one was getting up to leave. Then she walked through the door with the secret service followed closely behind. Maybe he wasn’t secret service but that’s what he looked like, and then I turned my eyes back to her. She had short curly platinum blond hair she was wearing a low cut a-line dress. Then the man pulled out an old school boom box hits the play button and I hear trumpet and she starts singing “Happy Birthday Day…”

. Just a passing face on the street. Oh lord, just a passing face.... week 8

I always feel a responsible for a funny story when I’m standing with a crowd of people. So an opportunity came while a group of friends was standing outside of Margaritas I start talking about my latest trip to Virginia Beach. I was telling them that in VA beach they call Birkenstock Lesbian Loafers. Then a man, he might have been in his mid 40’s, walks past me, he turns around walks back to our group and looks right at me, then he eyes the whole group with a smirk on his face he says “Well actually the correct term for lesbian is now Vagatarianism.” Then he nods and keeps on walking down the street. You could tell that he was very proud of the joke he just told to a group of strangers.
