Go to a crowded public place (not one of your classrooms, though) and be a fly on the wall. Just watch. What's going on? Set that scene.

September is here and everyone’s semester is in full swing. Many need a night to get out and have a little fun. I pull into the parking lot still empty thank goodness; I think we will get a table. I grab my favorite cousin and we head in, the rug is filthy they should have picked a darker color so the dirt would be so obvious, but hey it’s a bar what do you expect. The place isn’t jam-packed we got our usual table in the back corner; we click on the Bud Light sign because that how we roll. Then we wait for our waitress, awesome same one as last week. I order some wings and a Shock Top. Now it’s time to wait for the 1st performer, the rest of our friends show up. I love karaoke night. It’s some girl named Christine 21st birthday and we had the pleasure of hearing her sing “No Scrubs” she had wonderful stage presence but her singing wasn’t so hot. Nevertheless what was lost in her signing was made up with her black pumps and killer leopard print dress. Let’s not forget the tiara to complete the outfit. Now that I’m older 11:30 rolls around the corner we have time to listen to one more act before we go home. It’s time for a little “Ice Ice Baby’.

  1. It's a good idea to set the scene and almost immediate introduce people into it and let the scene develop by what the people are doing--humans are almost always going to be more interesting than architecture and interior decoration. You handle this well.
